When a school or I appeals the decision from a DPH then a SLRO is appointed by OEC.

The SLRO reviews the decision.

SLR OFFICER (SLRO)

The SLRO will:

Examine the entire due process hearing record.

Ensure that the hearing procedures followed the requirements of due process.

Seek more evidence -- if needed.

If a hearing is held to get more evidence then the hearing rights of the parent apply.

If the school or parent request more time then the SLRO may grant an extension of time.

After completing the review then the SLRO makes an independent decision.
